Welcome to the Lyons Will Estate newsletter! Thanks for your interest in the Macedon Ranges - Daylesford region and for entering the Daylesford Macedon Ranges Tourism autumn giveaway.
Lyons Will is a family owned, estate grown vineyard and winery, nestled on the edge of the Cobaw State Forest in the pristine Macedon Ranges. We grow and make Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Gamay, all on-site.
Our opening hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 5pm and Pickles the winery dog is always on hand to greet visitors. Bookings aren't essential, but please feel free to let us know you're coming particularly if you have a large group. Tastings are $15 per person, and we do a beautiful local produce platter for $45 (for two people, and includes your tasting).
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT LYONS WILL ESTATE
Lyons Will Estate is a family operation. Ollie Rapson and Renata Morello craft their wines together, alongside their small team. They have a strong emphasis on sustainability and traditional wine making techniques. Their ethos is simple: ‘look after the vines and the vines will look after the wine’. Good grapes coupled with a minimalist wine making approach results in a good honest wine. The unique environment and soils play a huge role in Lyons Will wines. All wines are made from exclusively estate grown fruit with minimal intervention in the winery to ensure the wines speak of the site in which they are grown.
First planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in 1996, Ollie and Renata purchased the property, nestled in the Cobaw Ranges outside Lancefield, in 2013. They have continued expanding the vineyards since then with plantings of Gamay, Riesling, Pinot Nero and a greatly expanded repertoir of Pinot Noir clones.
Although they do not come from a long established bloodline of wine makers, what inspires Renata and Ollie are the risks and dedication it takes to run a country business, the hard work and passion it requires for a successful outcome but most importantly the many, many rewards country living can provide.

"We hope we can somehow encapsulate a little bit of
this place in every bottle, and if so, then I think we have
done Lyons Will Estate justice."

Anyway, I just thought I'd drop in to tell you a little about our winery, hoping that we'll make it onto your hitlist the next time you're in the region. These newsletter are a quarterly affair, we're certainly not going to bombard you with mail. Like our vineyard management and winemaking, we think of our newsletter output as low intervention. And we like to fill them up with photos to tempt you down here.
So, we'll be here at the cellar door, ready for all and any who are keen to get out of the city for the day. You're always welcome!
Cheers, Ollie
