2022 Lyons Will Estate Negociant Series Carménère
Négociant is a word used to describe someone who buys their raw materials i.e. grapes and then produces, bottles and markets it under their own label. The Lyons Will Négociant Series is a rare collection of agreements we have made with outstanding growers that make something truly different or special.
Rarely grown in its original home of Medoc, Carménère has found a new life in the new world. Today this rare and unusual variety calls the eastern slope of Mt Camel home, thanks to the superb team at Humis Vineyard.
Handpicked on the 18th March 2022. The fruit was destemmed, placed in open vats, and cold soaked for 5 days prior to wild fermentation. The fruit saw a total of four weeks on skins. Pressed at dryness to old French barriques for 12 months maturation. Unfined, unfiltered, vegan.
