2022 NEGOCIANT SERIES SYRAH

94 Points - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
Deep red-purple with intense aromas of freshly ground pepper, mixed spices, pencil shavings and terracotta, with a trace of funky reduction which breathed off quickly. The palate is bright and piercing, spicy, peppery and plummy, with a sweet-fruit centre, a clean dry finish and medium length. A delightful, aromatic, medium-bodied syrah style.

93 Points -
Steve Leszczynski, Q Wine
Another ripper from Lyons Will. The Granite soils speak loud as does the cool climate medium-bodied frame. Give this a decant and a silky and lacy Syrah will emerge.
The detail and layers build curiosity. Sourced from a nearby grower (hence the Negotiant name), the fruit was cold soaked for five days prior to wild fermentation then 12 months in French oak (20% new). Concentrated dark plums and dried cherry fruit are met by choc brownie and char. Firm spices calm with time and the more air it breathes brings some dried purple petals along for the ride. Quite seductive, fine tannins tease and ride long. Tick, tick, tick.

93 Points - Emma Farrally, Wine Pilot

The fruit for this wine was purchased from Rowanston Vineyard, which straddles the northern boundary of the Macedon Ranges and is one of the warmer sites of the region. This is an elegant expression of Syrah with gentle black fruit, white pepper, perfumed spice and fine silky texture. It is focused, fresh and incredibly delicious.

91 Points - Ned Goodwin, JamesSuckling.com
Cooler climatic aromas of mace, blueberry, iodine and clove, with a lilt of violet and a burr of smoked charcuterie. Juicy, almost pulp, with subtle acidity, fuzzy oak and just enough tannin to compress the mid-weighted palate into a sense of tension, avoiding anything overwrought and too fruit sweet.

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast

This delicate Syrah highlights the softer side of the grape. An aromatic nose recalls raspberry, dried hay, blackberry, dried mushroom, strawberry, rhubarb and hints of hibiscus. Velvety in texture, the wine has ripe tannin and completes with raspberry-infused uplift on the finish.
