Lyons Will is located 554 meters above sea level, just south of the Cobaw Ridge. The micro climate of the estate is unique in the sense that it experiences bitterly cold winters, and dry hot summers. Generally the temperatures vary from -3 degrees in winter to 41 degrees in summer, with winds prevailing from the north. Rainfall can vary but in general our site is relative dry with as little as 30 mls per month. 2012's total rainfall was 620mls, which is much lower than the previous two years of 871mls in '11 and 1071mm in '10. 2013 looks to be dryer still which has its positives and negatives in the wine grape growing business.
Generally the wettest months are around June, July and August with an average of 70mls per month, and the driest tend to be January, March and April. February is unusual due to late summer rains setting in, particularly in 2011 where it ruined most people crops, here, in the Yarra and in particular the Mornington.

2013 Climatic data would indicate that the year was heading toward the dryer end of the scale.
